Last week we went into outer space with the children, creating our own aliens and turning ourselves into astronauts. We created edible constellations with marshmallows and pretzel sticks as we sang songs about aliens and astronauts. And we finished the week by playing space dance freeze and spaceship launch with our own UFOs.
This week we celebrated Christmas in July! The children had tons of fun in this busy Christmas themed week. We made Santa Hat ornaments, decorated ugly sweaters and chose the winners, and experimented with "dancing jingle bells." We made and enjoyed green Grinch popcorn for snack, drank some hot chocolate, watched quite a few Christmas movies during quiet time, and ended the week with a mega "snowball fight!" The children had a blast!
It was super hero week, and the kids had a blast! Check out some of our art and activities below.
This week we made a volcano and then saved our counting bears from the lava by building bridges. We learned about the rock cycle and made edible igneous and sedimentary rocks. We had fun with water table math, made our own crayons (a reversable change) and then learned about scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians. Finally, we made a playground pulley (simple machine) and a robot (complex machine) that created art with us!
We had a great week of 4th of July activities! Fireworks on paper, a science project with peppermint candy, snacks meant to celebrate Independence Day and so much more! The kids spent a lot of time enjoying the weather and practicing a fire drill, too.
June 20 was dinosaur week. The kids watched eggs being hatched into dinosaurs in water cups, made dinosaur bones with noodles and had a dinosaur snack using pretzels and marshmallows for their bones and body.
